I've been noticing lately that my core engages to do things like pick things up or get out of chairs. I've been relatively inconsistent (more like 1x week than 3) and was already strong and fat, but now I feel really solid in a way I didn't before.

Can confirm that even (moderately heavy) hand weights and body weight exercises are life changing - get used to surprised silences as you cheerfully turn down offers of help and carry big bulky things up stairs by yourself 😆 Interested to read I’m not the only one who’s noticed the warmth thing too. There are so many benefits that are invisible to others but mean the world to us - self-reliance first among them for me.

I've always run hot and suspected it was related to lifting since my nonlifting roommates over the years have always been freezing in comparison. Now I'm wondering what the explanation for that might be. Maybe both increased blood flow and muscle mass?

Yes I would imagine both of those factors are involved, plus isn’t muscle more metabolically active than fat? So it generates heat in and of itself I think.

That sounds right to me!
